| Any possibility of a cure in 5 years? Jan 3, 2009 Do you think that is possible to have at least a therapeutic cure in the next 5 years? What are your thoughts about this? Do you believe more in new drugs that control the virus or a drug that would harm the virus forever? |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
I do not believe there will be a therapeutic cure in the next 5 years (the recent German patient in the news being an exception). Drugs that control the virus is what we have now and works well. Unfortunately, all of these drugs don't remove the virus from the human genome, in which it is integrated, so removal of the virus is what is truly needed and not just control of viral replication. | |||||||||
