recurring infection in gluteal region Jan 3, 2009 Sir My husband is HIV positive.He is suffering from swelling in gluteal region (in buttocks).It happened 1year before and we operated it.It is recurring once in three weeks now.We use magnesium sulpate on it and the puzz will go out.It is causing too much pain and fever.I want to know whether it is recurring due to HIV.?What he have to do to get full recovery from this? |

 This is likely a bacterial infection caused by methicillin resistance staph aureus (MRSA). Although HIV infected people can have recurrent infections with this bacteria, people without HIV infection can certainly have this infection as well. This type of infection can require incision and drainage, surgery, antibiotics in the short term or chronic suppressive antibiotic therapy. Also important, is to make sure that the HIV infection is under control. | ||||||||
