| HBV lab result Dec 7, 2008 Dear Dr. Mark, I am a chronic HBV carrier (33 years Old). My recent results are as follows: HBsAg '+' HBe Ag '-' Anti-Hbe '+' HBV DNA 148000 copies/ml (DETECTABLE) Liver function test normal Ultrasound and AFP normal. My Dr. didnt give me any medicine. How is my risk factor of developing HCC in future or cirrosis or fibrosis? typically at what age the liver problem starts? I am really worried because of my hbv dna result with hbe negeative result. Also, the doctor did not detect my hbv genotype. he asked me to come 6 months later. |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
You need to determine from him when HBV treatment might be indicated. Based on those numbers, there doesn't appear to be an urgent need to start treatment. | |||||||||
