CD4/Viral count falling
Sep 27, 2008

I am newly diagnosed, my first labs showed my CD4 count at 262 but with a high percentage of T4 cells. My viral load was 14,000 and now my new labs show drops in both numbers. My CD4 shows 257 and Viral L. shows 7,200, these changes happened in a matter of two weeks. Is this normal and what does it or can it mean?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

That is not really a significant difference between those two sets of numbers. You don't indicate what a "high" percentage of CD4 cells is. However, given that CD4 count, you are likely looking at starting HIV treatment very soon.
