| Undetectable Viral Load Sep 21, 2008 I am very confused by my Western Blot lab results and was too shaken up to ask more questions, as it was a recent positive diagnosis. Any help would be appreciated. My viral load is <48, which I believe is undetectable? And my CD4 results were 501. What does this mean? How could my viral load be undetectable and CD4 be so low? Doctor said it wasn't time to consider medication, what is your opinion? Have I just not seroconverted yet, is that why my viral load is not higher? Very confused. Thank you for your help. |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
People can be HIV infected, as evidenced by a positive HIV screening antibody test and confirmatory western blot, and yet have an undetectable HIV viral load and CD4 count in the normal range. I agree with your doctor, HIV medications are not indicated at this time. | |||||||||
