Dr. Holodniy, I read that only 2% of Cd4 cells reside in the bloodstream with the rest in the lymph system . If this is the case how can one expect to get an accurate Cd4 count and picture of the strength of one's immune system? Thanks
Response from Dr. Holodniy
Because it's the best window view we have, short of sampling lymph nodes on every visit, which of course is not practical. In addition, the blood CD4 count/percent has correlated well with clinical outcome in multiple studies.
