| False positive Sep 7, 2008 I have just received 2 positive results on my ELISA tests. I am still waiting for my Western blot test results to come in. I have never been an i.v. drug user and have been with the same man for 3 years. I have a 1 1/2 year old daughter and was tested when I was pregnant. It was negative. My fiance was tested before we started dating and he was negative. We are both faithful. I have psoriasis, hypothyroidism, irritable bowl syndrome,GERD and have had two perirectal abscesses and just recently developed one in my inner thigh. Could any of these cause a false positive? Also, is it possible that I may have had HIV in my system for a while now and it is just now showing up? If the later is possible, wouldn't my daughter have it? Also, is it possible that certain antibodies from an infection that is already present cause a false positive? Thank you for your time. |

You'll have to wait for the western blot result to interpret the ELISA results. | ||||||||||
