An easy way to keep track of your labs

Jul 13, 2008

Dear Dr. Holodniy:

I just wanted to suggest for your readership a simple way that I have found to track my labs over a long period of time. I ask my doctor for copies of my lab reports that include the results of CD4 cell counts, percentages, etc, blood chemistry, haematology, etc. I use the computer spreadsheet program Microsoft Excel (TM) but any other similar spreadsheet software such as Lotus (TM) or QuattroPro (TM) should do the trick. One can use either columns or rows to arrange the numerical test results by date. Once all the data is entered, the statistical capabilities of the software allow for some interesting analysis, such as means, medians, standard deviations, and even linear regression, Pearson Product Moment coefficients of linear correlation, regression line slopes, etc. I hope that this information will be useful and helpful to other people living with HIV infection. Thank you and Best regards.
