Elite Controller Labs
Mar 15, 2008

I'm still being told that I am maybe a long term non-converter and or an elite controller; although my last two labs have been above the non-detectable cut off. Since my conversion I've had undetectable viral loads each time I go in, but these last two tests I had a blip of approximately 350 and then this month I had a VL of 97 with a normal cd4 count of over 1100 at 46%. Are these blips common for elite controllers? I still do not take any medications and this will be my 4th years since my exposure event and diagnosis.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Blipping, could be related to assay variability, or intermittent low level replication, that just happens to have been caught when you had your blood tested. Given your CD4 count, I certainly wouldn't be concerned about it.
