I have wounder that myself.How they came to that conculsion? I figured that I got reinfected.Which I don't see how everytime I used protection and always told those who I slept with.

HIV exists within an infected person as a family of very similar, but slightly different viruses called quasi-species. We can detect different strains within a person using sophisticated molecular biology testing. To have multiple quasi-species is very common. To have 4 distinct types of virus would be unusual.
