Average life span

Dec 9, 2007

I presented with fatigue constant thrush skin rash and a viral load of 500,00 and a cd4 of 34. In 5 weeks my vl was 350 and my cd4 was 290. I smoke but am not chemicaly dependent on drugs or alcohal. generally what would be an average life span.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Assuming your improvement in those numbers is the result of HIV treatment, you are no longer in the AIDS category. You also don't indicate your age or whether you have any other active medical problems. It is always difficult to predict longevity. It is conceivable you could have a normal life span with proper medical care and treatment.
