| Bottled Water Jul 14, 2007 A woman in my support group told me that people diagnosed with HIV should only drink bottled water, and that they should not eat raw foods like sushi. Is that true? |

Although bottled water tends to be highly filtered and therefore cleaner, tap water from municipal water supplies (at least in the US) are OK. However, outside the US, or well water or other untreated sources for instance would not be advisable to drink without boiling it first. Various fish and other meats contain various bacteria and/or parasites. As much as it tastes good, it would be advisable to cook these foods. People with HIV may not have effective immune systems to handle these infections if you were to come in contact with it. | |||
