| Strategic Interruption May 6, 2007 Hello, First thanks for this invaluable forum. Second, lots of people are talking about GAART testing and coming off meds without any repercussions. Isnt the latest trials and scientific evidence that doing so causes inevitable failure? That those successful at this, are, because their body keeps their strain of HIV under control and probably didnt need meds in the first place? I cannot find any valuable information to support Strategic Interruption of Med Therapy, unless costs, side effects, complications, pregnancy or other underlying circumstances warrant that course of action... |

I think your distillation of the data is about correct. Other than patient self imposed interruptions for whatever reason, the HIV treating community is down on the strategy currently. We do stop a few people, and it is usually those who had very good CD4 counts and low viral loads to begin with. | |||||||||
