Girlfriend is HIV POS & we want a baby.
Mar 17, 2007
So, my girlfriend is HIV positive. I'm HIV negative and we're looking to have a child soon. We've not thus far had unprotected sex. Her VL is <4000 and her CD4 is >400. I just want to know how much at risk I am for contracting HIV (percentage rate?). Either way, we will have a child. I would just like to know your opinion on what the risk is before hand.
If I do turn up HIV pos, I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

The risk is small but not zero. I think it would make more sense to have her conceive by artificial insemination using your sperm then for you to take that risk via unprotected sex.
