Testing - 4th genration window

Apr 7, 2001

Is the window still 6 months for 4th genration tests? Is the Home Access Express 4th generation? Separate topic: If I'm still in the window for ELISA (I'm at 3-4 months, and hearing that 6 is the window), specifically what other test is good? PCR, DNA, Viral Load, I've seen a lot of terminology and am not clear on all of it.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

4th generation tests are usually referred to those that combine antibody and p24 antigen testing in the same test. HomeAccess only detects antibodies to HIV-1.
