CD4 & VL

Dec 2, 2006

In HAART regime does the undetectable VL mean the faster progression of CD4 cells in future. My starting was 58 and I`m only at the therapy for 2 months. THANKS

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Not sure what you mean by progression. Although your CD4 count was quite low when you started HIV treatment, you will start to see your CD4 count increase now that the viral load is undetectable. The lower your CD4 count is when you start the slower the CD4 count is to rise. You should not see your CD4 count be going down as long as you continue to take your meds.
