acute hiv. when will i start meds? Nov 5, 2006 Hello doc.I was recently diagnosed with hiv. Aug,31, 06... im 23 y/o male. Ive been going to the doctor on a regular, Im taking part in this study in NC to hep monitor me. My results are as followed on 8/31/06 cd 4 was 377 & VL 394,649. On 9/12/06 VL 181,169 On 9/19/06 VL 56,739 and 10/6/06 i got cd4 checked again it was 554 & VL 1908.... My doctor told me that she never seen anyone VL drop that low without meds. Please tell me your opinon when do u think i will be on meds, if at all hopefully? By the way this is an excellent site. I thank all the docotors and all the victims of HIV. Bless u all. |

 Although a little quick in your case, viral load can drop significantly after acute infection without any meds. Such a decline as you are experiencing is a well described phenomenon. | ||||||||
