What are your thoughts on HIV positive men receiving the HPV vaccine that was developed by Merck? I know there have been some controversy on whether young boys should receive the vaccine so that they will not pass on the virus to girls when they mature. However, there also seems to be an advantage to HIV individuals to reduce the chances of HPV and the symptoms and difficulties that come along with having that disease. Plus, the vaccine would be able to prevent against genital/ anal warts, a condition which some HIV positive men suffer. Your insights and thoughts as a HIV healthcare professional will be greatly appreciated.

Unlikely to be effective in that most/many sexually active men have already been exposed to HPV (and therefore have it) along the years from sexual activity.
