HEP C RNA QUANT
Aug 26, 2006

Result of test.Hep C Virus RNA Quant PCR:>9999999 IU/ml Reference <.5 IU/ml. Also >9999999 copies/ml Reference 10 copies/ml. Then at the bottom of report it says Actual Result 10,700,000 IU/ml 21,400,000 copies/ml Help!! Please explain these results.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

I can't explain the > 999, but it may be related to the range of the test. The 10 million IU (international units) and 21 million copies are actually the same number, just expressed a different way. That result would be considered moderately high for an HCV viral load level.
