First labs - worrying?
Jul 16, 2006

Hi,

I was diagnosed two weeks ago, following an infection just over three months ago. I had a virus-like sereconversion in late April, early May. My initial labs came back with a CD4 of 297 and a viral load of 900,000. I'm concerned. My doctor has tested me again, results in two weeks, to find out more. In your opinion, do you think it could be a recent-illness related blip, or am I to expect treatment soon?

Thanks.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Can't say for certain. If infection was in April, then these numbers could reflect acute infection kinds of numbers and your CD4 count will go up and viral load will go up down in the next few months. You need more points on the line.
