Viral load
Apr 30, 2006

Hi Doc , My husband is going through a nasty child custody battle in which the maternal grandparents got a ID doctor to say on record that a viral load alone of 566,000 is a diagnosis of Aids but didnt even assess the CD4 ct which was in the 300 range . This was the first test done before he was put on meds . Can this be used as a accurate diagnosis?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Unlikely as the only factor, so there must be more to it. People with CD4 counts > 200 have viral loads that can be that high.
