Aussie window period

Apr 5, 2006

Hi to all the worried wells (I know the feeling!). Just a quick note in hope of decreasing your anxiety. In Australia a 3 month antibody (ELISA) test is considered conclusive unless another medical condition exists that may alter results or if PEP is initiated. There are also studies being done that are re-assessing this window period. Preliminary data suggests that the window period can be reduced to approximately 4 weeks. Only a few outlyers will seroconvert past 4 weeks and 98-99% of people will seroconvert by 8 weeks. I know the good doctors at this forum cannot comment on these figures because they are not supported by CDC guidelines but I hope they will post this non-the-less. This information was posted on an official Australian government website. Best of luck!

Aussie ex-worried well.
