Recent liver biopsy done with results showing as Chronic Viral Hep C @ Grade 2, Stage 4. How far advanced is the disease with these results and what, if any, treatment can be done??
Response from Dr. Holodniy
Depending slightly on whose scoring system is being used, grade looks at inflammation and stage looks at fibrosis. Grade 2 indicates moderate inflammation with occasional liver cell necrosis and stage 4 would indicate probable or definite cirrhosis. Treatment can be effective but this requires a more detailed discussion with your doctor.
