Hcv RNA QN PCR
Nov 6, 2005

My husband has just received his lab results and we are very confused. In past tests, the HCV RNA PCR QN was recorded x1000. My husbands was 4743.94 before his last treatment 3 years ago and down to approx 1000 after treatment. The most recent test was recorded as follows: HCV RNA QN PCR 3460000 ref range:<50 IU/ml HCV RNA QN PCR 6.54 ref range <1.70 LOG IU/ml. Liver profile perfect. We are trying to understand what these values mean as we are unfamiliar with them. His primary Doc said he needs to see a GI Doc immediately. Could you please advise? Thank you so much.

Response from Dr. Holodniy

3.46 million and 6.54 log10 are the same number. This number is essentially the same as 4.74 million prior to treatment. It is likely he had a temporary treatment response given these new numbers.
