If my seroconversion was so mild as to go unnoticed by myself or any of my close family members(and with no illnesses for the estimated 6 months from possible infection source), yet the first results after finding out my positive status have my VL already at about 10K and CD4% already below the regular 30% (it's at about 25%). Is this at all any indication of how fast the HIV might progress to AIDs?
Response from Dr. Holodniy
Yes, in early natural history studies where people did not receive HIV treatment. However, today, it is difficult to answer that question as most people go on HIV treatment and this therefore halts the progression to AIDS in most people.
