|Elevated Liver Enzymes
Sep 17, 2005
My relative has been diagnosed by Liver Cirrhosis recently. He is recovering from it since his PT/PTT and albumin factors are normal now. But the AST is 700 and ALT is 295 and GGT is high as well. The doctor was telling us that he is happy since the other liver related factors are good. How long does it take to get the Enzymes back to normal? What are the facts that are the KEY factors that will indicate the Liver is recovering.
Thanks a lot.

You don't indicate what the cause of the liver cirrhosis is. This condition could be the result of many things including hepatitis virus infections, alcoholism, cancer, medication interactions, etc. Correction or improvement and prognosis will depend on the underlying process and the ability to treat it.
