|People who have positive HCV antibody tests and negative viral loads
Sep 10, 2005
If somebody hasnt had any treatment, and his viral loads are negative that means he was exposed to the virus but now he is clean, what does it mean? The virus could shows again? Does he have to folow any special cares? Thank You for your answer

In general a positive HCV antibody test and negative viral load indicates exposure and clearing of the infection. This has been reported to happen in about 20% of people exposed. It is unclear as to the probability of reemergence of active, chronic infection in this situation, although people could certainly be reexposed again and possibly acquire a new strain of infection and therefore become chronically infected.
