HBV DNA result
Feb 13, 2005

Dr. Holodniy

For HBV DNA result of 703 IU/ml (lab test dynamic range from 357 IU/ml to 17,857,143 IU/ml), does it mean negative result and virus can't spread to others? HBsAg (positive), HBeAg(negative), HBeAb(positive), HBcAb(positive), Liver function normal, what is the infection status and any treatment available?

Thanks a lot

Response from Dr. Holodniy

A positive HBV DNA level indicates infectious virus is present in blood. Although your results should be followed up to determine whether you have chronic HBV infection or will have developed immunity, in which case you would not have infectious virus present.
