How much variation is there on average in CD4 and CD8 counts in an HIV negative individual between morning and afternoon, versus that in HIV positive individuals? Does this change later in the course of HIV infection?

There are not a lot of good studies on this question. We also don't know what the effect of gender, age, or race has either. However, cells can swing by as much as 200 or more between morning and evening. This does not occur in everyone. It does occur in asymptomatic HIV infected patients and tends to be lost when people advance to AIDS.
