Hep B immunization performance

Jun 20, 2004

I had received 2 of the three Hep B injection series in Nov 2000, but neglected to get the 3rd immunization. How much conferred immunity do I have from completing 2 of the 3 shot series? Should I get the 3rd injection only or restart the series?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

People are divided on how to approach this. One thing to do is check for HBV surface antibody and see if you have developed immunity just with two shots. Another approach is to get one injection and a month from now check for surface antibody levels. Finally, start over.
