| Testing methods and possibilities Jun 16, 2004 Dear sir, I have a quick question relating to HIV testing. Basically, I wondered if any of the HIV tests, by tests I mean the Antibody test, the PCR, (viral load tests etc) and the T-Cell count tests, could be performed on a dry blood spot sample, as opposed to a needle of blood from the arm. I am aware that doctors are able to do some types of blood test from a dry soaked blood spot, and dont always need the needle in arm approch. I would be very grateful of your expertise. Thanks |

There are reports in the literature that all of the tests you indicate can be performed on dried blood or plasma spots. | |||||||||
