B lymphocytes during acute infection
Jun 14, 2004
Doctor: HIV goes from B cell surface to T cell nucleus. During acute infection, would B cell counts be lower as the assay could not quantify the cells properly as many would be masked (and not identifiable) by HIV proteins surrounding them?
Response from Dr. Holodniy
B cells are quantifiable during acute infection and throughout HIV infection.
