| Test to detect ARVS? Jan 8, 2004 Hi -- I am curious to know if there are lab tests that can detect if someone is taking ARVS. My reason for asking is complicated, but it has to do with the chance of getting such a test done on me by an immigration authority (it is "ok" if I am HIV+ but to qualify for immigration, I cannot be on meds...but my T-cells have to be high enough and my VL low enough...). Anyhow, I am just curious how "they" would know if I were on meds...unless there are blood-testing procedures to detect them. Thanks, Adrian/California. |

There are many research laboratories and some commercial laboratories that will test for HIV medications. This is used in clinical practice primarly for protease inhibitors. | |||||||||
