| what is undetectible? Dec 21, 2003 I have a friend that is HIV+, he started taking meds and has been told that his viral load is undetectible now. What exactly does that mean? Also, at what point does HIV switch to AIDS? |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
Undetectable in terms of blood viral load measurement means < 50 copies/ml of blood. AIDS by definition is a CD4 count < 200, or development of any one of a number of infections or malignancies. | |||||||||
