stability of plasma/viral load in PPT tube
Sep 22, 2003
How long can plasma in a PPT tube remain at room temperature without in any way diluting viral load for a test? If blood was drawn and plasma was spun on day one, then the PPT tube was shipped overseas and remained unrefrigerated for 5 days, could this possibly dilute the viral load for a test?
Also, the PPT tube was frozen at the end of day 5 - does freezing and unfreezing affect viral load?

You are asking alot from a blood sample, collected in any tube. It is likely that there would be loss of viral load under the conditions you describe. How much is anyone's guess.
