PCR diagnosis

Why aren't PCR tests approved for diagnosis? Is it mainly because of the high incidence of false positives due to the sensitivity of the test, or do false negative results also play a factor?

YOu will have to ask the FDA that question. False positives are a bigger concern with this technology.
