| Western Blot Jul 3, 2003 Is there a situation where HIV-1 test could show antibody negative and Western blot indeterminate? What does that mean? Is Western blot only done to confirm HIV -1 infection, or is it also to diagnose even if antibody negative specimen? Thanks... |

The situation you describe could be early HIV infection, or NO infection. It depends on the band pattern and evolution of bands over time. | |||
