Worry Test Result

Mar 9, 2001

I have chronic HBV. Few weeks ago, I had lab test for HBV DNA PCR Ultraquant and HEP B DNA Ultraquant. The result < 0.01. My doctor told me its good new. My question to you is, Doctor can the hepatitis B DNA test result be inaccurate because of someone is HIV+, or just got infected

Thanks for you help

Response from Dr. Holodniy

I would be curious to know what your doctors meant by chronic HBV infection. If you have not been treated for HBV, I would expect the HBV DNA test to be positive with chronic infection. The test should not be affected if someone were HIV positive. MH

Should I get one?
