| T cell count and age May 18, 2003 Does a normal T cell count decrease with age? I am 49 and on Trizivir. My T Cell count is up to 497. What is the normal count for a 50 year old? Thanks |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
There is not alot of data in the "uninfected" literature about age and normal CD4 counts. The absolute counts don't change much. The functionality of those cells does though. The peak performance is probably in our 20's. For the rest of us, it's all down hill. How much we lose per decade is hard to measure. | |||||||||
