| VL not-detectable w/ meds but for how long? Aug 19, 2002 I aquired HIV in 1990 and started meds when this was necessary in 1998. The 1st test after meds dropped VL to <50 and CD4 rose more slowly but immediately above 200. I have not seen the VL since + my CD4 remained well above 450. When taking the supplement SELENIUM 500mg daily CD4 jumped to as high as 1000 (CD8 down). If I take a vitamine supplement CD4 actually declines (CD8 up). If it took 8 years in addition to having moved in 1997 from a sub-tropical climate to a moderate climate, how long would the meds be effective? Would this also be 8 years? meds=epivir/zerit/nevirapine. |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
You could very well get 8 years out of these meds. Alot depends on good adherence, no toxicities, and a relatively good immune system. | |||||||||
