Multiple Sclerosis & HIV Mar 17, 2002 After 4 months of Elisa Bock test with indetermate results, the results are now positive. In addition, I have just been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Is there any corolation between the two results? Also, did the Multiple Sclerosis screen or interfere with the HIV virus test results? |

 The cause of MS is not known. Herpes viruses (HHV-6) and pieces of retrovirus (distant cousins of HIV) have been found in MS brain lesions. MS does result in the increased production of antibodies. Although it is possible that MS would result in a false positive HIV antibody screen, it should not affect a positive western blot test. In addition, if the western blot test is positive, then a HIV viral load should be positive as well. | |||||||||
