| concerned female Mar 17, 2002 I tested HIV positive May 2001. I recently had blood work done. My viral load is 550 and my t-cell count is 890. My doctor insists that I do not need any medication. Is this possible? I just feel that I should be on some sort of treatment. |

Response from Dr. Holodniy
Current guidelines suggest that treatment should be started in those people with a CD4 count < 350 or a viral load > 30-55,000/ml. Given your current numbers, you are in very good shape. I agree with your doctor, I would hold off, but be following your numbers closely. MH | |||||||||
