| hiv-2 vaccine?please help Mar 4, 2002 i have been hiv-2 poz. for over 6 years now and was wondering if this vaccine for already infected individuals holds any promise for me. my doc who I see once a year says hes not 100 percent sure that hiv2 even progresses at all.My health is fairly stable any idea how long hiv2 takes to go to aids(10 yrs. for 1)thank you so much I feel very alone was infected after sex with a prostitute in india |

There is currently no preventative (for those who are not infected) or therapeutic vaccine (for those who are infected) for HIV-2. The natural history studies do suggest a slower progression rate, if at all. Some people are being treated with HIV-1 meds. Higher HIV-2 viral loads seem to correlate with progressive disease. But what that absolute number is, is not clear. MH | |||||||||
