| CMV PCR and culture Feb 17, 2002 Dr. Holodniy, How accurate/conclusive is a CMV culture/PCR in a person infected by HIV prior to HIV seroconversion? I am CMV antibody negative, CMV PCR not detected in serum and CMV early antigen not cultured in urine. Have raised ALTS, raised calcium and protein, constant right quadrant pain and light stools. Hep/HIV assays (antibody and PCRs) all negative, stool for toxins etc..negative. Exposure 7 months ago, but I am concerned about simultaneous co-infection not clearing and moving to the liver with late seroconversion. (Would have been substantial blood to mucosal membrane contact). Thanks for your advice and compassion. |
