Sed Rates of 9 and above
Feb 3, 2002

Hi, Dr. Mark,

I know that very low sed rates--- 0 or 1 -- indicate unlikely hiv infection.

When sed rates are up to 9/10 does this make it more difficult to say "unlikely hiv infection."?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

That number is still in the normal range. The sed rate test is very nonspecific and should never be used in determining and HIV diagnosis.
