Elevated ALT and lipids
Jan 27, 2002
How concerned should I be about slightly elevated liver functions, (ALT 56) and lipids (triglycerides 152 , cholesterol 240, LDL 152, VLDL 24, HDL 54. (Other than that I'm doing well on abacavir, neverapine and epivir, with good viral suppression and increasing CD4 count.
Response from Dr. Boyle
I don't think you have to be too worried about those lab values, which are really pretty close to normal. I would pay a some attention to getting your cholesterol down, through diet, exercise and, if needed, a statin. You should discuss this with your doctor, and, if available, a dietitian.
