How much time to increase CD4 count and decrease viral load?
Dec 24, 2001

I have a CD4 count below 200. I am starting HAART this week. How long should it take to get my viral load down and get my CD4 count above 200? Also does Uncaria Tomentosa Plus that has been used by Dr. Richard Gerber any good for boosting the immune system?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

You don't indicate how low below 200 your CD4 count is. But you will see noticeable improvement in your numbers in one month, and probably reaching a peak response within 3-6 months. Cats claw has been described as having great immune system enhancing abilities (stimulating t cells). However, I am not aware of any published data on the clinical utility in HIV infection.
