Falling CD4%
May 3, 2008
Hi Doctor,
I recently had my bloods back and my CD4 count had fallen from 1300 to 970, my Viral load was undetectable but my Cd4 % had fallen from 33% to 29%.
I have been on treatment for almost eight years, on the same combination.
My initial CD4 count was only 170 and the CD4% 9. For the last 7 years my Cd4 count has hovered around 1000 and my % at about 27%. I have been undetectable from three months into diagnosis. The previous CD4 % of 33% was the highest
it had ever been.
I have read that a fall of greater than 3% is significant, but my Doctors have told me not to worry about it and just continue as I am.
Would this be your advice too?
Thank you.

I agree with your doctor. You are in great shape, and I am not worried about those changes.
