ck and hdl levels
Apr 26, 2008

Been positive for 6yrs, t-cells are wonderful at 1120. 4 months ago my cholesterol was elevated but my HDL was 65 and I was taking steps to bring the total count down. Just had new labs and my total cholesterol is down but HDL now 57, and my CK is elevated at 159. Lactic acid was not high....What do you think this indicates. I am on Viramune and Truvada could one of these be causing this?

Response from Dr. Holodniy

I don't think that is really a significant drop in the HDL. Your CK level, a muscle enzyme, is very minimally elevated. Any exercise prior to having the labs drawn? You don't indicate how long you have been on this HIV regimen. If you have been on it for many months/years and this is the first bump in that test, unlikely that it would be any of your HIV meds. I don't think there is anything to do now and just have it repeated on your next lab panel.
