Alcohol and lab results
Apr 26, 2008

I am on Truvada, Reyataz, and Norvir (on meds for about 2 months) My current CD4 count is 458 and VL is undetectable, and CD4% about 27%. I am a social drinker (about 4 drinks per week max) and am wondering if alcohol will have a negative effect on my future lab results or liver with the meds. Is alcohol ok in moderation on the regimen I am on?

Lastly - I salute you for all of the great information you provide to all of us who ask questions on the body.com. You and the other docs bring us comfort. THANK YOU!

Response from Dr. Holodniy

Your current consumption rate should not have a negative impact, provided you don't have any other underlying liver associated disorders.
